How to work with Random Generator

Learn how to generate random numbers, dates, passwords, and more in Google Sheets

Get the add-on

This add-on will help you get the type of random data you need in your Google sheet by following three simple steps: select the cells, choose the type of data, and click "Generate". Please see detailed instructions below.

Select the cells to populate

Open Random Generator from the add-ons menu

First select the range you want to fill in your sheet and open the add-on from Add-ons > Random Generator > Start.

You can change the range to fill any time before you click the Generate button by simply selecting the necessary cells in your spreadsheet.

Choose the type of data

You will see the add-on sidebar with six possible types of random values you can generate.

Select the type of data you'd like to get by clicking on the corresponding group header: Integer, Real, Date, Custom list, Boolean, or Strings.

Generate random integer numbers

Please use the "From" and "To" fields to change the default range of integer numbers to be picked. You can enter any negative or positive number.
  • You can have only unique integers generated by selecting the "Unique values" check box. If the "Unique values" check box is not selected, the range will be filled with random integers that can be repeated.
  • Please note that "From" and "To" fields cannot be empty. If you delete a value, then default or previously entered number will appear in the field.

Click "Generate"

Once you have the range and conditions set, click on the "Generate" button to get random values.
