Frequently asked questions

I have numerous tables to update but a lookup table is different each time. Is it possible to save my tables and merging options as a scenario but change the lookup table when I run my scenario?

Yes, it is possible to change the lookup table before running a scenario. Start the tool from the worksheet with a new lookup table, select the necessary scenario from the list and the tool will ask you to choose what worksheet to use for a lookup table, the one saved in the scenario or the current one. However, please note that if you choose to use for reference a table other than the one saved in your scenario, both tables must be structured the same way.

If I save a scenario, can it run automatically at a predefined time or specified intervals?

The Merge Several Tables with Single Lookup Table tool works in the interactive mode. To run a scenario, start the tool, select the scenario you need from the list of saved scenarios, and choose which worksheet to use as the lookup table.

In case there are empty cells in the lookup table, can the tool skip them?

Sure, there is an option in Step 7 which allows you to update records only if cells in the lookup table contain data. If you select this option, the add-in will ignore empty cells in the reference worksheet.

How does the tool mark updated records in my worksheets?

The tool can highlight all updated records with the background color of your choice, but you can also choose to add a status column to identify the updated cells and new rows in your tables.
