Perform formula operations

Most Excel spreadsheets contain formulas. When you need only the fixed values or want to replace all relative cell references with absolute or vice versa, use the Convert Formulas tool.

How to convert formulas in Excel

First, select a range with the formulas you'd like to update. Then click the Convert Formulas icon in the Utilities group on the Ablebits Tools tab in Excel and choose from the three possible ways to convert the records:

  • Turn formulas to regular records by selecting To Value option in the drop-down list.
  • By default, spreadsheet cell references are relative. When a formula or function is copied and pasted to other cells, all cell references change to reflect the new location. However, if they are stored in your table as absolute, you can pick the second option in the Convert Formulas drop-down list to change them To Relative.
  • If you want formula references to stay fixed, convert them To Absolute.
