With Fuzzy Duplicate Finder plug-in you can quickly and easily find and remove partial, or fuzzy duplicates, typos, misspelled words and similar records in Microsoft Excel worksheets within a list or a selected range. Fuzzy Duplicate Finder performs a fast search for duplicates that differ in 1 to 6 characters (omitted, excess or mistyped symbols).

You specify the number of possible typos, run the add-in and see all the found duplicates at a glance.

Search results are displayed in a list structured by duplicate groups. You can easily make all possible corrections: remove duplicates, set the right value for all or some duplicates automatically, or correct some of the found fuzzy duplicates manually.

With Fuzzy Duplicate Finder you can:

• Quickly find and remove all similar records, typos and misspelled words in Microsoft Excel worksheets.
• Specify the number of different characters for a particular search (from one to six omitted, excess and mistyped symbols).
• Search for fuzzy Microsoft Excel duplicates in a whole list, column or a selected range.

Finding fuzzy duplicates - Five easy steps

Open the Fuzzy Duplicate Finder pane by doing one of the following:

• Click on its icon
• In Excel 2000 – 2003 go to Excel menu, click Ablebits.com menu item, select Fuzzy Duplicate Finder from the drop-down list;
• In Excel 2007, 2010 go to Ablebits.com tab and select Fuzzy Duplicate Finder.

1. If you search for fuzzy duplicates in a single column, just place a cursor on any cell of that column. To search within several columns or any block of cells, just select them.
2. On the Fuzzy Duplicates Finder pane, set the maximum number of characters the entries may differ in (from one to six characters) on the Max number of different characters slide bar.
3. If you want to exclude one or several topmost rows from the search range (if the search range has column headers/names), check the Exclude header rows checkbox. You can specify the number of the excluded rows in the Header rows count field.
4. Click on the Find Typos button.
5. All the found items will be displayed in a list grouped by duplicates (nodes). In the lower right corner of the add-in pane you can see the total number of the found duplicates.
