Styles for Google Docs

How to work with the Styles add-on

Get an additional set of headings, titles, and normal text styles for your documents. Just pick a style in the sidebar and use it for any part of your text to make it look pretty.

Apply a new style to the selected paragraphs

Go to Add-ons > Styles > Start to open the sidebar with the styles.

You can pick any style set in the list to see its full-size preview in the sidebar.

Change the look and feel of the entire document

If your screen is too small to show all styles, the add-on will reduce the list and leave the possibility to open it and choose between all pre-supplied sets.

It is very easy to apply any style to your text:

  1. Place the cursor in the paragraph you want to format in your document, or select several paragraphs you want to change.
  2. Click on the style you prefer, e.g. heading 1, title, or normal text, in the sidebar.

You can use a standard option in Google Docs to apply new format to all similar styles , e.g. to all headings.

  1. Right-click the text formatted as Heading 1 or the text with the style you want to change in the document.
  2. Pick the option Select all matching text. This way you automatically select all occurrences of Heading 1.
  3. Click any style in the sidebar you want to apply to all the selected paragraphs.

The add-on will keep bookmarks, links, and such formatting as bold, italics, and underline in your document.

Note. Please note that due to the current technical limitations in Google Docs add-ons, we cannot keep your indentation and numbered list formats.

Apply the style set to the entire document

If your document has its structure with titles and headings, you can make it look polished in just one click:
  1. Pick one of 12 designed style sets in the list. You will see full-size preview below the list in the sidebar.
  2. Click on the Apply style button.

All styles in the document will change accordingly.

The add-on will keep bookmarks, links, and such formatting as bold, italics, and underline in your document.

Note. Please note that due to the current technical limitations in Google Docs add-ons, we cannot keep your indentation and numbered list formats.
