Introduction
Advanced Find & Replace for Microsoft Excel allows you to search and replace in all opened Excel worksheets and workbooks and perform simultaneous search in Excel values, formulas, comments and hyperlinks. The add-in works for Microsoft Excel 2007, Excel 2003, 2002 (XP) and Excel 2000.
Search with Advanced Find and Replace
Open the Advanced Find & Replace pane by clicking on its icon
or pressing Ctrl+F hotkey.

- In the Find what field, enter the information you want to search for.
- Decide if the search should be performed in Comments, Formulas, Values, or Hyperlinks and check a corresponding option(s) in the Look in section.
- In the workbooks tree, choose the workbooks and worksheets you want to search in. Press F5 to refresh the workbooks & worksheets tree.
- If you want to distinguish between uppercase and lowercase characters check the Match case checkbox.
- Check the Entire cell checkbox to search for an exact and complete match of characters specified in the Find what box.
- Click the Find All button to start the search.
- If you want to search in the selected range, click the arrow next to the Find All button and choose Find in the selected region.
- If you want to search among already found results, click the arrow next to the Find All button and choose Find within results.
- The add-in will perform the search according to the parameters you set. It make take a few minutes if you search in large workbooks.
- You will find found items in the Search results tab.
- If you click on the found entry, the Microsoft Excel cursor will move to the cell containing the data.
- You can sort search results by the Type & Value columns.
A quote from the Excel help
You can use a question mark (?) to match any single character or an asterisk (*) to match any string of characters. For example, sm?th finds "smith" and "smyth" and *east finds "Northeast" and "Southeast."
Replace in search results
- Perform the search first (see Find information section).
- In the Replace with field, enter the replacement characters.
- Click the Replace All button. If you want to replace in the selected occurrences only, click the arrow next to the Replace All button and choose Replace in the selected items.
- You can choose any font and font size for displaying the search results. Please right-click on the search results and choose "Font Settings..." from the pop-up menu.
- You can select all cells with found items or cells with selected occurrences only. Please right-click on the search results and choose "Select all" or "Select the selected items" from the context menu.
- You can export search results to a new workbook (found result address, its type and value) Right-click on the search results and choose "Export search results" from the context menu.
